RESCUE Renewable Energy for Sustainable Communities
(RE102)
One of the biggest threats to biodiversity and integrity of ecosystems is the increasing demand and quest for energy. This is especially acute in places where groups or communities rely directly on the natural resources (biomass) for their fuel needs. This has a negative impact on biodiversity. Objective: To design and develop low cost off grid energy supply system for local communities and build the capacity of local artisans in technical and general maintenance of the systems. Explore the existing sustainable and renewable energy options with emphasis on the local context and in consideration of the global context plus undertake a sustainability impact assessment of the proposed system. Working close and together with Kenyan partners.
